लिपिड का उपापचयन (Metabolism of Lipids):-
• कोशिकाओं में वसा के संश्लेषण व अपघटन को सम्मिलित रूप से लिपिड का उपापचयन कहते हैं।
(Synthesis and hydrolysis of fat in cells is called lipid metabolism.)
• यह कार्बोहाइड्रेट उपापचयन से जुड़ा हुआ होता है।
(It is associated with carbohydrate metabolism.)
• वसा के विघटन से ग्लिसरॉल व वसीय अम्ल बनते हैं जो Acetyl CoA में परिवर्तित होकर क्रेब्स चक्र में प्रवेश कर जाते हैं।
(The hydrolysis of fat produce glycerol and fatty acids which get converted into acetyl CoA and enter the Krebs cycle.)
• 1 ग्राम ग्लूकोज से 4.1 किलो कैलोरी ऊर्जा प्राप्त होती है जबकि 1 ग्राम वसा से 9 किलो कैलोरी ऊर्जा प्राप्त होती है। इस प्रकार वसा से कार्बोहाइड्रेट्स की तुलना में दोगुनी से भी अधिक ऊर्जा मिलती है।
(1 gram of glucose produce 4.1 kcal of energy while 1 gram of fat produce 9 kcal of energy. Thus, fat produce more than twice as much energy as carbohydrates.)
