Epistatic Gene Interactions with examples:-
1. Complementary Genes:- इसमें दो अयुग्मविकल्पी जो प्रभावी होते हैं, वे एक-दूसरे के संपूरक होते हैं। इन दोनों के साथ – साथ होने पर ही लक्षण की अभिव्यक्ति होती है। इसमें लक्षण प्रारूप अनुपात 9 : 7 आता है।
Here, the two dominant non-alleles are complementary to each other. The character appears only when these two occur together. In this case the phenotypic ratio changes to 9 : 7.)
उदाहरण:- मीठी मटर (Lathyrus odoratus) में पुष्पों का रंग
[Example:- Color of flowers in sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus)]
2. Supplementary Genes:- जब 2 अयुग्मविकल्पी जीन परस्पर इस प्रकार से क्रिया करते हैं कि अप्रभावी युग्म विकल्पी दूसरे अयुग्म विकल्पी के प्रभाव को दबा देता है तो इसे Supplementary gene कहलाता है। इसे अप्रभावी Epistasis भी कहते हैं। इसमें लक्षण प्रारूप अनुपात 9 : 3 : 4 आता है।
(When two non-allelic genes interact with each other in such a way that the recessive allele suppresses the effect of the other non-allele, it is called as supplementary gene. It is also called as recessive epistasis. In this, the phenotypic ratio changed to 9 : 3 : 4.)
उदाहरण (Examples):- 
i. चूहे में त्वचा का रंग (Colour of skin in mice)
 ii. ज्वार में ग्लूम का रंग (Colour of glume in sorghum)
