·         सामान्य नाम:- ईसबगोल, psyllium husk

·         यह  2 पर्सियन शब्दों के मिलने से बना है:-

isap = horse (घोड़ा)

ghol = ear (बाली)

·         वानस्पतिक नाम:- Plantago ovata

(Botanical Name:- Plantago ovata)

·         कुल:- प्लांटेजिनेसी

(Family:- Plantaginaceae)

·         गुणसूत्र संख्या (Chromosome Numbers):- 2n = 8

·         उत्पत्ति केन्द्र (Center of Origin):- भूमध्यसागरीय क्षेत्र (Mediterranean region) व पर्सिया (Persia)

2. पुष्पीय बायोलॉजी (Floral Biology):-

·         ईसबगोल एक वार्षिक फसल है। इसकी पादप ऊंचाई 30 - 45 cm होती है। प्रति पौधा 12 - 26 तक टिलर्स होते हैं।

(Isabgol is an annual crop. Its plant height is 30 - 45 cm. There are 12 - 26 tillers per plant.)
