Qualitative and Quantitative Traits, Polygenes and Continuous Variations

गुणात्मक और मात्रात्मक लक्षण, पॉलीजीन और सतत विविधताएं (Qualitative and Quantitative Traits, Polygenes and Continuous Variations):-

लक्षणप्रारूप (Phenotype):- किसी जीव के बाह्य लक्षणों की अभिव्यक्ति को लक्षणप्रारूप कहते हैं। ये आनुवांशिक लक्षण 3 प्रकार के होते हैं –

(Expression of external characters of an organism is called phenotype. These genetic traits are of 3 types –)

1. गुणात्मक लक्षण (Qualitative Traits)

2. मात्रात्मक लक्षण (Quantitative Traits)

3. देहली लक्षण (Threshold Traits)

1. गुणात्मक लक्षण (Qualitative Traits):-

Ø  ये गुणवत्ता के रूप में अभिव्यक्त होते हैं।

(These are expressed in the form of quality.)

Ø  लक्षणप्रारूप के विभिन्न श्रेणियाँ होती हैं।

(There are different categories of phenotype.)

Ø  ये मोनोजेनेटिक होते हैं अर्थात 1 लक्षण को 1 ही जीन के द्वारा नियंत्रित किया जाता है।

(These are monogenetic, it mean that one trait is controlled by only one gene.)

Ø  इन पर वातावरण का बहुत कम प्रभाव होता है।

(The environment has very little effect on traits.)

Ø  उदाहरण (Example):- एक उत्परिवर्तन के कारण वंशागत, रक्त समूह

(Inherited disease caused by a single mutation, Blood type)

2. मात्रात्मक लक्षण (Quantitative Traits):-

Ø  ये मात्रा के रूप में अभिव्यक्त होते हैं।

(These are expressed as quantities.)

Ø  ये पॉलीजेनेटिक होते हैं अर्थात 1 लक्षण को अनेक जीनों के द्वारा नियंत्रित किया जाता है।

(They are polygenetic i.e. one trait is controlled by multiple genes.)

Ø  इन पर वातावरण का बहुत अधिक प्रभाव होता है।

(The environment has a great influence on traits.)

Ø  ये सतत विभिन्नता प्रदर्शित करते हैं।

(They show continuous variation.)

Ø  समष्टि में इन लक्षणों का सामान्य वितरण होता है।

(These traits are normally distributed in the population.)

Ø  उदाहरण (Example):- जन्तु उपापचय को अनेक जीनों के द्वारा नियंत्रित किया जाता है। उपापचय का अंतिम उत्पाद इसका अच्छा उदाहरण है। जैसे – दुग्ध उत्पादन, वृद्धि दर

(Animal metabolism is controlled by a number of genes. The end product of metabolism is a good example of this type of trait. E.g. milk production, growth rate)

अन्य उदाहरण (Other Examples):- त्वचा का रंग (Skin colour), आँखों का रंग (Eye colour), ऊंचाई (Height), भार (Weight)

3. देहली लक्षण (Threshold Traits):-

Ø  यदि मात्रात्मक लक्षणों का समष्टि में सामान्य वितरण न हो तथा कुछ जीवों के द्वारा ही ये लक्षण प्रदर्शित किए जाएँ तो इन्हें Threshold traits कहते हैं।

(If quantitative traits are not distributed normally in the population and represented by some organisms only, then they are called as threshold traits.)

Ø  ये लक्षण असतत विभिन्नता प्रदर्शित करते हैं।

(These traits show discontinuous variation.)

Polygenes (Multiple Genes):- जब एक से अधिक जीन मिलकर एक आनुवांशिक लक्षण को नियंत्रित करते हैं तो इन्हें Polygenes कहते हैं।

(When many genes together control a genetic trait, they are called Polygenes.)

उदाहरण (Example):- 

त्वचा का रंग (Skin colour), 

आँखों का रंग (Eye colour), 

ऊंचाई (Height), 

भार (Weight)

विभिन्नताएँ (Variations):- जीवों में उपस्थित लक्षणों में भिन्नता को विभिन्नता कहते हैं। ये 2 प्रकार की होती हैं –

(The difference in the characters found in the organisms is called variations. These are of 2 types –)
