Introduction and importance of organic manures (जैविक खाद का परिचय एवं महत्व):- 
Introduction (परिचय):- Organic manures are natural products used by farmers to enhanced sustainable crop production. 
(जैविक खाद प्राकृतिक उत्पाद हैं जिनका उपयोग किसान टिकाऊ फसल उत्पादन बढ़ाने के लिए करते हैं।)
Importance of organic manures (जैविक खादों का महत्व):-
1. Organic manure binds soil particles into structural units called aggregates. These aggregates help to maintain a loose, open, granular condition. Water infiltrates and percolates more readily. The granular condition of soil maintains favourable condition of aeration and permeability.
(जैविक खाद मृदा के कणों को संरचनात्मक इकाइयों में बांधती है, जिन्हें समुच्चय कहते हैं। ये समुच्चय एक विरल, खुली व दानेदार स्थिति बनाए रखने में सहायता करते हैं। जल मृदा में अधिक आसानी से प्रवेश करता और रिसता है। जैविक पदार्थ मिश्रित करने से उपत्पन्न हुई मृदा की दानेदार स्थिति वातन और पारगम्यता की अनुकूल स्थिति बनाए रखती है।)
2. Water-holding capacity is increased by organic matter. Organic matter definitely increases the amount of available water in sandy and loamy soils. Further, the granular soil resulting from organic matter additions, supplies more water than sticky and impervious soil.
(जैविक पदार्थों को मिश्रित करने से जल धारण क्षमता में वृद्धि होती है। जैविक पदार्थ निश्चित रूप से रेतीली और दोमट मृदा में उपलब्ध जल की मात्रा को बढ़ाता है। इसके अतिरिक्त, जैविक पदार्थों को मिश्रित करने से उत्पन्न दानेदार मृदा चिपचिपी और अभेद्य मृदा की तुलना में अधिक जल की आपूर्ति करती है।)
3. Surface run off and erosion are reduced by organic matter as there is good infiltration.
(सतही अपवाह और अपरदन जैविक पदार्थों द्वारा कम किया जाता है क्योंकि इसमें अच्छा जल प्रवेश करता है।)
4. Organic matter or organic manure on the soil surface reduces losses of soil by wind erosion.
(मृदा की सतह पर जैविक पदार्थ या जैविक खाद हवा के द्वारा अपरदन से मृदा की हानि को कम करता है।)
