Brinjal (बैंगन): Phomopsis blight and Little leaf:-

1. Phomopsis fruit rot or blight (फोमोफसिस फल सड़न या ब्लाइट):- Phomopsis vexans (Perfect Stage: Diaporthe vexans)

The disease is severe in tropical and sub-tropical areas of the world. In India, it was reported in 1935 in Gujarat. The pathogen attacks foliage and fruits, but the latter phase is more destructive.

(यह रोग दुनिया के उष्णकटिबंधीय और उप-उष्णकटिबंधीय क्षेत्रों में गंभीर रूप से पाया जाता है। भारत में इसकी पहली रिपोर्ट 1935 में गुजरात से मिली थी। यह रोग पत्तियों और फलों पर हमला करता है, लेकिन फलों पर इसका प्रभाव अधिक विनाशकारी होता है।)

Symptoms (लक्षण):-

- The plants are attacked at all stages of growth, producing damping-off symptoms in nurseries and collar rot on young plants.

(पौधे वृद्धि की सभी अवस्थाओं में इस रोग से प्रभावित हो सकते हैं, जिससे नर्सरी में डैंपिंग-ऑफ और तरुण पौधों में कॉलर सड़न के लक्षण उत्पन्न होते हैं।)

- On leaves, circular to irregular, clearly defined grayish brown spots having light centers appear. The diseased leaves become yellowish in colour and may drop off. Several black pycnidia can be seen on older spots.

(पत्तियों पर गोल से अनियमित आकार के, स्पष्ट रूप से परिभाषित धूसर-भूरे धब्बे दिखाई देते हैं, जिनके केंद्र हल्के होते हैं। संक्रमित पत्तियाँ पीली हो जाती हैं और गिर सकती हैं। पुराने धब्बों पर कई काले पिक्निडिया देखे जा सकते हैं।)
