Sorghum (ज्वार): Grain smut and Anthracnose:-

1. Grain smut (ग्रेन स्मट):- Sphacelotheca sorghi or Sporisorium sorghi
Symptoms (लक्षण):-
- The disease becomes apparent only at the time of grain formation in the ear.

(यह रोग केवल बालियों में दाने बनने के समय ही दिखाई देता है।)

- The individual grains are replaced by smut sori which can be localized at a particular part of the head or occur over the entire inflorescence. Smut means sooty / charcoal like black powder.

(प्रत्येक दाने को स्मट सोरस द्वारा प्रतिस्थापित कर दिया जाता है, जो या तो बालियों के किसी विशेष भाग में या पूरे पुष्पक्रम में हो सकते हैं। स्मट का मतलब कालिख या चारकोल जैसे काले पाउडर से होता है।)

- The sori are dirty white to gray in colour, oval or cylindrical and are covered with a tough white cream to light brown skin (peridium) which often persists unbroken upto threshing. 

[सोराई गंदे सफेद से लेकर भूरे रंग तक होते हैं, अंडाकार या बेलनाकार होते हैं और एक सख्त सफेद क्रीम से लेकर हल्के भूरे रंग की त्वचा (पेरिडियम) से ढके होते हैं जो अक्सर थ्रेशिंग तक बिना टूटे रहते हैं।]

- The glumes are unaltered and may be found adhering to the sides of the sorus. Sometimes the stamens may develop normally protruding out of the sorus. 

(ग्‍लूम्स अपरिवर्तित रहते हैं और सोरस के किनारों से चिपके पाए जा सकते हैं। कभी-कभी पुंकेसर सामान्य रूप से विकसित हो सकते हैं और सोरस से बाहर निकल सकते हैं।)

- The size, colour and degree of breakage of the sori vary considerably with race of the fungus and the sorghum cultivar. 

(सोराई का आकार, रंग और टूटने की डिग्री कवक की प्रजाति और ज्वार की किस्म के अनुसार काफी भिन्न होते हैं।)

- Ratoon crops exhibit higher incidence of disease.

(रैतून फसलें रोग की अधिक घटनाओं को प्रदर्शित करती हैं।)
