Pest of field crop Sugarcane: Shoot borer (कृष्य फसल गन्ने का पीड़क: तना छेदक):- The sugarcane shoot borer is one of the most significant pests of sugarcane in India, causing substantial damage to sugarcane crops. 
(गन्ना तना छेदक भारत में गन्ने के सबसे महत्वपूर्ण कीटों में से एक है, जो गन्ने की फसल को काफी नुकसान पहुंचाता है।)

Scientific Name (वैज्ञानिक नाम):- Chilo infuscatellus
Order (गण):- Lepidoptera (लेपिडोप्टेरा)
Family (कुल:):- Crambidae (क्रैम्बिडी)
 
Distribution (वितरण):- Sugarcane shoot borer is widely distributed in sugarcane-growing regions across India, particularly in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Bihar.
(गन्ने का तना छेदक भारत के गन्ना उगाने वाले प्रमुख क्षेत्रों में व्यापक रूप से फैला हुआ है, विशेष रूप से उत्तर प्रदेश, महाराष्ट्र, पंजाब, तमिलनाडु, कर्नाटक, आंध्र प्रदेश और बिहार में।)

Identification (पहचान):-
Eggs (अंडे):- Flat and scale-like, whitish-yellow, laid in clusters on the undersides of leaves.
(सपाट और शल्क की तरह, सफ़ेद-पीले रंग के, पत्तियों की निचली सतह पर गुच्छों में रखे जाते हैं।)
Larva (Caterpillar) [लार्वा (कैटरपिल्लर)]:- Creamy white to pale yellow with a brownish head. The body has five dark stripes running longitudinally along its length.
(क्रीम रंग से हल्के पीले रंग का, सिर का रंग भूरा होता है। शरीर की लंबाई के समानान्तर पांच काली धारियां होती हैं।)
Pupa (प्यूपा):- Brownish, enclosed in silken cocoons within the stem.
(भूरा, जो तनों के अंदर रेशमी कोकून में बंद रहता है।)
Adult Moth (वयस्क पतंगा):- Small, straw-colored moth with a wingspan of 20-25 mm. The forewings have small black dots, and the hindwings are pale brown.
(छोटा, भूसे के रंग का पतंगा जिसका पंख फैलाव 20-25 मिमी होता है। अग्रपंखों पर छोटे काले बिंदु होते हैं और पिछले पंख हल्के भूरे रंग के होते हैं।)
