Scientific Name (वैज्ञानिक नाम):- Bactrocera dorsalis (Oriental Fruit Fly). (ओरिएंटल फल मक्खी।)
Order (गण):- Diptera (डाइप्टेरा)
Family (कुल):- Tephritidae (टेफ्रिटिडी)

Distribution (वितरण):-
Global Distribution (वैश्विक वितरण):- The Oriental Fruit Fly is found in tropical and subtropical regions across Asia, Africa, the Pacific Islands, and parts of the Americas.
(ओरिएंटल फल मक्खी उष्णकटिबंधीय और उपोष्णकटिबंधीय क्षेत्रों में एशिया, अफ्रीका, प्रशांत द्वीप समूह और अमेरिका के कुछ हिस्सों में पाई जाती है।)
In India (भारत में):- It is prevalent in all major mango-growing regions, including states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
(यह सभी प्रमुख आम उत्पादक क्षेत्रों में पाई जाती है, जैसे उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार, पश्चिम बंगाल, महाराष्ट्र, कर्नाटक, आंध्र प्रदेश और तमिलनाडु।)

Identification (पहचान):-
Adults (वयस्क):-
i. Size (आकार):- Around 7-8 mm in length.
(लगभग 7-8 मिमी लंबी।)
ii. Color (रंग):- Yellow-brown body with distinct dark markings on the thorax and a characteristic yellow band along the abdomen.
(पीले-भूरे रंग का शरीर जिसमें वक्ष पर स्पष्ट काले निशान और पेट पर एक विशिष्ट पीली पट्टी होती है।)
iii. Wings (पंख):- Transparent with distinctive dark crossbands.
(पारदर्शी पंख जिनमें काली धारियां होती हैं।)
iv. Eyes (आँखें):- Bright red compound eyes.
(लाल रंग की संयुक्त आँखें।)
Eggs (अंडे):- White, elongated, and laid under the skin of the fruit.
(सफेद, लंबी और फल की त्वचा के नीचे रखे जाते हैं।)
Larvae (maggots) [लार्वा (मैगट)]:- Creamy-white, legless, tapered at one end, feeding inside the fruit pulp.
(सफेद, पैर रहित, एक छोर पर नुकीले, जो फल के गूदे के अंदर भोजन करते हैं।)
Pupae (प्यूपा):- Brown, cylindrical, formed in the soil after larvae leave the fruit.
(भूरे रंग की, बेलनाकार, जो कीट के फल से निकलने के बाद मिट्टी में बनती है।)
