Order (गण):- Hemiptera (हेमिप्टेरा)
Family (कुल):- Cicadellidae (सिसाडेलिडी)

Distribution (वितरण):- Jassid is a widespread pest in India and is prevalent in all cotton-growing regions of the country, particularly in states like Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. It is also found in other tropical and subtropical regions of the world, affecting not just cotton but also several other crops.

Identification (पहचान):-
Adult (वयस्क):- Jassids are small, greenish-yellow, wedge-shaped insects, measuring about 2-3 mm in length. The forewings have distinct black spots.
(जैसिड छोटे, हरे-पीले रंग के, पंख के आकार के कीट होते हैं, जिनकी लंबाई लगभग 2-3 मिमी होती है। उनके अग्रपंखों पर काले धब्बे होते हैं।)
Nymphs (निम्फ):- These are smaller, wingless, and pale green with a flat body. Nymphs jump quickly when disturbed.
(ये छोटे, बिना पंखों वाले और हल्के हरे रंग के होते हैं, और शरीर चपटा होता है। इन्हें छेड़ने पर ये जल्दी कूद जाते हैं।)
Eggs (अंडे):- Eggs are laid inside the plant tissue, typically in the veins of leaves, and are difficult to spot with the naked eye.
