Scientific Name (वैज्ञानिक नाम):- Scirpophaga incertulas
Order (गण):- Lepidoptera (लेपिडोप्टेरा)
Family (कुल):- Crambidae (क्रैम्बिडी)

Distribution (वितरण):- 
> The Yellow Stem Borer is widely distributed in Asia, especially in India, Bangladesh, China, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam.
(पीला तना छेदक एशिया में व्यापक रूप से फैला हुआ है, विशेषकर: भारत, बांग्लादेश, चीन, श्रीलंका, थाईलैंड, फिलिपींस और वियतनाम।)
> In India, it is present in most rice-growing regions, from Punjab in the north to Tamil Nadu in the south, and from Assam in the east to Gujarat in the west.

Identification (पहचान):-
Adult Moth (वयस्क पतंगा):- The adult yellow stem borer moth is pale yellow, about 10-15 mm long. Female moths have a yellowish body and wings with a dark spot at the center of the forewings. Males are slightly smaller and lighter.
(पीला तना छेदक पतंगा हल्का पीला होता है, जिसकी लंबाई लगभग 10-15 मिमी होती है। मादा पतंगों का शरीर पीला होता है और पंखों के बीच में काले धब्बे होते हैं। नर पतंगे थोड़े छोटे और हल्के रंग के होते हैं।)
Eggs (अंडे):- Laid in masses on the upper surface of rice leaves, covered by a tuft of brown hairs.
(धान की पत्तियों की ऊपरी सतह पर गुच्छों में रखे जाते हैं और भूरे रोमों से ढके होते हैं।)
Larvae (लार्वा):- Creamy white to yellowish, about 25 mm long. The head is brown in color.
(पीले से सफेद रंग का लार्वा, जिसकी लंबाई लगभग 25 मिमी होती है। सिर भूरा होता है।)
Pupa (प्यूपा):- Light brown and found within rice stems or in leaf sheaths.
(हल्का भूरा और धान के तनों या पत्तियों में पाया जाता है।)
