Chemical Methods of Weed Control (खरपतवार नियंत्रण की रासायनिक विधियाँ):- Chemical weed control involves using herbicides (chemicals specifically formulated to kill weeds). These are popular due to their effectiveness, especially when large areas need to be treated. However, their use comes with environmental and health considerations.

a. Types of Herbicides (शाकनाशियों के प्रकार):-

i. Pre-emergent herbicides (पूर्व-अंकुरण शाकनाशी):- These are applied before the weed seeds germinate, targeting young seedlings. Examples include Pendimethalin and Atrazine.

(इनका छिड़काव बीजों के अंकुरित होने से पहले किया जाता है, और ये युवा पौधों को निशाना बनाते हैं। उदाहरण: पेंडीमेथालिन और एट्राजीन।)

Pendimethalin (पेंडीमेथालिन):- Commonly used in crops like wheat, maize, and soybean. It inhibits cell division, preventing weed seeds from sprouting.

(गेहूं, मक्का, और सोयाबीन जैसी फसलों में आमतौर पर उपयोग किया जाता है। यह कोशिका विभाजन को रोकता है, जिससे खरपतवारों के बीज अंकुरित नहीं हो पाते।)

Atrazine (एट्राजीन):- Used mainly in maize and sugarcane fields. It interferes with photosynthesis, killing weeds at an early stage.
