Types of Dormancy in Weeds (खरपतवारों में सुप्तावस्था के प्रकार):- Dormancy in weeds can be classified into three main types:

(खरपतवारों में सुप्तावस्था को मुख्य रूप से तीन प्रकारों में विभाजित किया जा सकता है:)

i. Innate Dormancy (Primary Dormancy) [आंतरिक सुप्तावस्था (प्राथमिक सुप्तावस्था)]:-

Definition (परिभाषा):- This type of dormancy is present in seeds at the time of their maturation and shedding from the mother plant. It is genetically controlled and ensures that seeds do not germinate immediately after dispersal, allowing them to survive until conditions are favorable.

(इस प्रकार की सुप्तावस्था बीजों में उनके परिपक्व होने और मातृ पौधे से अलग होने के समय होती है। यह आनुवंशिक रूप से नियंत्रित होती है और सुनिश्चित करती है कि बीज फैलने के तुरंत बाद अंकुरित न हों, जिससे वे अनुकूल परिस्थितियों तक जीवित रह सकें।)

Causes (कारण):- It can be caused by factors like hard seed coats, immature embryos, or chemical inhibitors within the seed.

(यह कठोर बीज आवरण, अपरिपक्व भ्रूण, या बीज में उपस्थित रासायनिक अवरोधकों के कारण हो सकती है।)

Examples (उदाहरण):- Common examples include seeds of Datura (thorn apple), Amaranthus species, and Cyperus rotundus (purple nutsedge).
