Epidemiology (महामारी विज्ञान):- It is the study of how diseases spread and develop within populations. In the context of plant pathology, epidemiology examines the factors that influence the development, spread, and control of plant diseases. Understanding these factors is crucial for developing effective disease management strategies. In India, various plant diseases impact agricultural productivity, and several environmental, biological, and agronomic factors influence their development.

Factors affecting disease development (रोग विकास को प्रभावित करने वाले कारक):-

i. Climatic Factors (जलवायु कारक):- Climatic conditions such as temperature, humidity, rainfall, and wind patterns play a significant role in the epidemiology of plant diseases in India.

(भारत में जलवायु स्थितियाँ जैसे तापमान, आर्द्रता, वर्षा, और वायु प्रवाह पादप रोगों के विकास में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं:)

Temperature (तापमान):- Different pathogens thrive at various temperature ranges. For example, fungi like Puccinia (which causes rust in wheat) develop rapidly at moderate temperatures. Many bacterial diseases are also favored by warm and moist conditions.
