Herbicide application- types and techniques (शाकनाशी अनुप्रयोग- प्रकार और तकनीक):- Herbicides play a crucial role in weed management in agriculture, helping to improve crop yield and reduce competition for nutrients, water, and sunlight. In India, herbicide application is tailored to various crop types, climatic conditions, and soil types. 

(भारत में खरपतवार प्रबंधन में शाकनाशी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं, जिससे फसल की उपज में सुधार होता है और पोषक तत्व, पानी और धूप के लिए प्रतिस्पर्धा कम होती है। भारत में शाकनाशी का उपयोग फसलों, जलवायु और मृदा के प्रकार के अनुसार किया जाता है।)

Types of Herbicides (शाकनाशियों के प्रकार):- Herbicides are classified based on their mode of action, selectivity, timing of application, and chemical nature. 

(शाकनाशियों को उनके कार्य करने के तरीके, चुनिंदा प्रकृति, आवेदन के समय और रासायनिक संरचना के आधार पर वर्गीकृत किया जाता है।)

a. Based upon Selectivity (चयनात्मकता के आधार पर):-

i. Selective Herbicides (चयनात्मक शाकनाशी):- These target specific weed species while leaving the crop unharmed. For example, 2,4-D is used in wheat fields to control broadleaf weeds without affecting the wheat.

(ये विशेष खरपतवार जातियों को निशाना बनाते हैं जबकि फसल को सुरक्षित रखते हैं। उदाहरण के लिए, 2,4-D गेहूँ के खेतों में चौड़ी पत्ती वाले खरपतवारों को नियंत्रित करने के लिए उपयोग किया जाता है।)

ii. Non-selective Herbicides (गैर-चयनात्मक शाकनाशी):- These kill all vegetation and are typically used in non-crop areas or for pre-planting weed control. Glyphosate is a common example, used for broad-spectrum weed control before planting crops like cotton or soybeans.

(ये सभी प्रकार की वनस्पतियों को नष्ट कर देते हैं और आमतौर पर गैर-फसल क्षेत्रों में या रोपण से पहले खरपतवार नियंत्रण के लिए उपयोग किए जाते हैं। ग्लाइफोसेट इसका एक सामान्य उदाहरण है, जो कपास या सोयाबीन जैसी फसलों के रोपण से पहले व्यापक स्पेक्ट्रम खरपतवार नियंत्रण के लिए उपयोग होता है।)
