Introduction (परिचय):-
Scientific Name (वैज्ञानिक नाम):- Stenodiplosis sorghicola
Order (गण):- Diptera (डाइप्टेरा)
Family (कुल):- Cecidomyiidae (गॉल मिज)

Distribution (वितरण):- The seed midge is found in many tropical and subtropical regions, including India, where it is a significant pest in states like Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and parts of Northern India. It is particularly prevalent in areas where sorghum is grown but can also be found in regions cultivating other spices like coriander and fenugreek.
(बीज मिज कई उष्णकटिबंधीय और उपोष्णकटिबंधीय क्षेत्रों में पाया जाता है, जिसमें भारत भी शामिल है, जहां यह कर्नाटक, महाराष्ट्र, आंध्र प्रदेश, तमिलनाडु और उत्तरी भारत के कुछ हिस्सों में एक महत्वपूर्ण कीट है। यह मुख्य रूप से उन क्षेत्रों में पाया जाता है जहां ज्वार की खेती होती है, लेकिन यह धनिया और मेथी जैसी मसालों की खेती वाले क्षेत्रों में भी देखा जा सकता है।)

Identification (पहचान):-
Adult (वयस्क):-
> Small reddish-brown fly, about 1.5 mm long.
(छोटी, लाल-भूरी मक्खी, लगभग 1.5 मिमी लंबी।)
> Transparent wings with a single vein, delicate and fringed with hair-like structures.
(पारदर्शी पंखों के साथ एकल नस, कोमल और बाल जैसे ढांचे से घिरे हुए।)
Larva (लार्वा):-
> Small, creamy white, and later turning reddish-orange as they mature.
(छोटे, क्रीमी सफेद रंग के, जो बाद में परिपक्व होने पर लाल-नारंगी हो जाते हैं।)
> Approximately 2 mm in length.
(लगभग 2 मिमी लंबाई में।)
Pupae (प्यूपा):- Develop inside the spikelets or within soil near the base of the plant.
(स्पाइकलेट्स के अंदर या पौधे के आधार के पास मिट्टी में विकसित होते हैं।)
