Rodents and their management in fields and godowns (कृंतक और खेतों व गोदामों में और उनका प्रबंधन):- Rodents pose a significant challenge to agriculture and stored food products in India, affecting both crop fields and storage areas (godowns). Their management is essential to prevent crop damage, contamination, and economic losses.

Types and Impact of Rodents (कृंतकों के प्रकार व प्रभाव):-
i. Types of Rodents (कृंतकों के प्रकार):-
Field Rodents (खेत के कृंतक):- These rodents primarily affect standing crops and include species such as:
(ये कृंतक मुख्यतः खड़ी फसलों को प्रभावित करते हैं और इनमें शामिल हैं:)
- Bandicota bengalensis (Indian mole rat or greater bandicoot rat)
[बैंडिकोटा बेंगालेन्सिस (भारतीय मोल चूहा या ग्रेटर बैंडिकोट चूहा)]
- Mus booduga (Indian field mouse)

Storage Rodents (भंडारण कृंतक):- These are more commonly found in stored product facilities like godowns:

ii. Impact of Rodents (कृंतकों का प्रभाव):-
In Fields (खेतों में):- Rodents damage crops like rice, wheat, sugarcane, and pulses by gnawing on stems, roots, and seeds. Their burrowing behavior can damage irrigation channels and alter soil structure, making it harder to cultivate the land.
(कृंतक धान, गेहूं, गन्ना और दालों जैसी फसलों को कुतर कर नुकसान पहुंचाते हैं। उनकी सुरंग खोदने की आदत सिंचाई नालियों को नुकसान पहुंचा सकती है और मिट्टी की संरचना को बदल सकती है, जिससे खेती करना मुश्किल हो जाता है।)
In Godowns (गोडाउन में):- In storage facilities, rodents can contaminate stored grains with urine and feces, leading to post-harvest losses. They also cause structural damage to bags, containers, and storage structures.
