Processing and Value Addition in Ornamental Crops (सजावटी फसलों में प्रसंस्करण और मूल्य संवर्धन):- Ornamental crops include cut flowers, loose flowers, potted plants, foliage, and landscaping plants. Value addition improves their aesthetic appeal, shelf life, and marketability.

(सजावटी फसलों में कटे हुए फूल, खुले फूल, गमले में लगे पौधे, पत्ते और भूनिर्माण पौधे शामिल हैं। मूल्य संवर्धन से उनकी सौंदर्य अपील, शेल्फ लाइफ और बाजार में उनकी उपलब्धता में सुधार होता है।)

Types of Value Addition in Ornamental Crops (सजावटी फसलों में मूल्य संवर्धन के प्रकार):-

i. Cut Flower Processing (कटे हुए फूलों का प्रसंस्करण):-

Grading (ग्रेडिंग):- Based on stem length, flower size, color, freshness.

(तने की लंबाई, फूल के आकार, रंग, ताजगी के आधार पर।)

Pre-cooling (प्री-कूलिंग):- Immediate cooling after harvest to remove field heat.

(खेत की गर्मी को दूर करने के लिए कटाई के तुरंत बाद ठंडा करना।)

Pulsing (पल्सिंग):- Treatment with sugar and chemical solutions (e.g., sucrose, silver thiosulphate) to enhance vase life.

[फूलदान की लाइफ बढ़ाने के लिए चीनी और रासायनिक घोल (जैसे, सुक्रोज, सिल्वर थायोसल्फेट) से उपचार।]

Packaging (पैकेजिंग):- Use of corrugated fiberboard boxes with water vials or moisture pads.

Cold Chain Transport (कोल्ड चेन ट्रांसपोर्ट):- Maintaining temperature (1–4°C) during transit for export-quality flowers.

Processing and Value Addition in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs) [औषधीय एवं सुगंधित पौधों (MAPs) में प्रसंस्करण एवं मूल्य संवर्धन]:- MAPs are processed for extraction of active compounds, enhancement of shelf life, and development of various products.

(सक्रिय यौगिकों के निष्कर्षण, शेल्फ लाइफ को बढ़ाने तथा विभिन्न उत्पादों के विकास के लिए MAPs का प्रसंस्करण किया जाता है।)

Types of Processing (प्रसंस्करण के प्रकार):-

a. Primary Processing (प्राथमिक प्रसंस्करण):-

i. Cleaning and Sorting (सफाई एवं छंटाई):-

> Removal of soil, dust, insects, or foreign material.

(मिट्टी, धूल, कीड़े या विदेशी सामग्री को हटाना।)

ii. Drying (सुखाना):-

Purpose (उद्देश्य):- Reduce moisture to prevent microbial contamination.

(सूक्ष्मजीवी संदूषण को रोकने के लिए नमी को कम करना।)

Methods (तरीके):-

> Sun drying (धूप में सुखाना)

> Shade drying (for delicate parts)

> Mechanical/hot air drying
