Lecture-24 Rose

Rose (गुलाब):-

Rose (Rosa spp.) [गुलाब (रोजा प्रजाति)]:-

i. Common Aromatic Species (सामान्य सुगंधित प्रजातियाँ):-

> Rosa damascena (Damask rose – main species for attar/oil)

[रोजा डैमास्केना (दमास्क गुलाब - इत्र/तेल के लिए मुख्य प्रजातियाँ)]

> Rosa bourboniana, Rosa centifolia

(रोजा बोरबोनियाना, रोजा सेंटिफ़ोलिया)

ii. Climate and Soil (जलवायु और मिट्टी):-

Climate (जलवायु):- Subtropical and temperate zones

(उपोष्णकटिबंधीय और समशीतोष्ण क्षेत्र)

> Requires cool winters and mild summer

(ठंडी सर्दियाँ और हल्की गर्मी की आवश्यकता होती है)

Optimal temp (इष्टतम तापमान):- 15–25°C, chilling promotes flowering

(15-25 डिग्री सेल्सियस, ठंडक पुष्पन को बढ़ावा देती है)

Soil (मिट्टी):- Deep, well-drained loamy soil with pH 6.0–7.5

(गहरी, अच्छी जल निकासी वाली दोमट मिट्टी जिसका pH 6.0-7.5 हो)

> Avoid waterlogging

(जलभराव से बचें)

iii. Propagation (प्रवर्धन):-

> Cuttings, budding, and root suckers

(कटिंग, बडिंग और रूट सकर्स)

> Hardwood stem cuttings (15–20 cm) treated with IBA for rooting

[हार्डवुड स्टेम कटिंग (15-20 सेमी) को जड़ने के लिए IBA के साथ उपचारित किया जाता है]

Planting time (रोपण का समय):- December to February (दिसंबर से फरवरी)

iv. Land Preparation and Planting (भूमि की तैयारी और रोपण):-

> Ploughing and harrowing to prepare soil

(मिट्टी तैयार करने के लिए जुताई और हैरोइंग)

> Apply 20–30 tons/ha FYM

(20-30 टन/हेक्टेयर FYM डालें)

Spacing (अंतराल):- 90 × 90 cm or 1 m × 1 m

> Pits of 45 × 45 × 45 cm filled with FYM, soil, and neem cake

(FYM, मिट्टी और नीम केक से भरे 45 × 45 × 45 सेमी के गड्ढे)

v. Fertilizer and Irrigation (उर्वरक और सिंचाई):-

Recommended dose (अनुशंसित खुराक):- 100 kg N, 50 kg P₂O₅, 50 kg K₂O per ha/year

> Apply in two splits (before and after flowering)

[दो भागों में डालें (पुष्पन से पहले और बाद में)]

> Frequent irrigation during dry period, but avoid overwatering

(शुष्क अवधि के दौरान बार-बार सिंचाई करें, लेकिन अधिक पानी देने से बचें)

vi. Intercultural Operations (अंतर-कृषि संचालन):-

> Regular weeding and hoeing

(नियमित निराई और गुड़ाई)

> Pruning after harvest (December–January) to encourage new shoots

[कटाई के बाद छंटाई (दिसंबर-जनवरी) ताकि नई टहनियाँ उगें]

> Spraying of GA₃ and micronutrients to enhance flowering

(फूल आने को बढ़ाने के लिए GA₃ और सूक्ष्म पोषक तत्वों का छिड़काव)

vii. Harvesting and Yield (कटाई और उपज):-

> First harvest after 1 year; full bloom from 3rd year

(1 वर्ष के बाद पहली कटाई; तीसरे वर्ष से पूर्ण खिलना)

> Flowers are plucked early in the morning

(सुबह जल्दी फूल तोड़े जाते हैं)

Yield (उपज):-

Flowers (फूल):- 2–5 t/ha/year

Essential oil (from R. damascena) [आवश्यक तेल (R. डेमास्केना से)]:- 

1–2 kg/ha (very low due to low oil %)

(1-2 किग्रा/हेक्टेयर (कम तेल के कारण बहुत कम%))

viii. Oil Extraction (तेल निष्कर्षण):-

> Done via steam distillation (decanter system)

[भाप आसवन (डिकैंटर सिस्टम) के माध्यम से किया जाता है]

> Rose oil yield is very low (0.02–0.04%) but highly valuable

[गुलाब के तेल की उपज बहुत कम (0.02-0.04%) है, लेकिन अत्यधिक मूल्यवान है]

By-products (उप-उत्पाद):- Rose water, gulkand, attar
