Land capability and land suitability classification (भूमि क्षमता और भूमि उपयुक्तता वर्गीकरण):- Land classification systems are essential tools in soil and land resource management. They guide sustainable land use planning by determining how land can best be used without causing degradation.

(भूमि वर्गीकरण प्रणालियाँ मिट्टी और भूमि संसाधन प्रबंधन में आवश्यक उपकरण हैं। वे यह निर्धारित करके स्थायी भूमि उपयोग नियोजन का मार्गदर्शन करते हैं कि भूमि का बिना क्षरण किए सर्वोत्तम तरीके से कैसे उपयोग किया जा सकता है।)

Land Suitability Classification (भूमि उपयुक्तता वर्गीकरण):-

Definition (परिभाषा):- Land Suitability Classification assesses how well land suits specific types of land use, such as rice, wheat, orchards, forestry, or urban development.

(भूमि उपयुक्तता वर्गीकरण यह आकलन करता है कि भूमि चावल, गेहूं, बाग, वानिकी या शहरी विकास जैसे विशिष्ट प्रकार के भूमि उपयोग के लिए कितनी उपयुक्त है।)

Purpose (उद्देश्य):-

> To evaluate land for specific crops or uses rather than general use.

(सामान्य उपयोग के बजाय विशिष्ट फसलों या उपयोगों के लिए भूमि का मूल्यांकन करना।)

> To match land with the most appropriate and sustainable type of land use.

(भूमि का सबसे उपयुक्त और टिकाऊ प्रकार के भूमि उपयोग से मिलान करना।)

Major Categories (प्रमुख श्रेणियाँ):-

S (Suitable) (उपयुक्त):- Land is suitable for the intended use.

(भूमि इच्छित उपयोग के लिए उपयुक्त है।)

N (Not Suitable) (उपयुक्त नहीं):- Land is not suitable for the use under evaluation.

(भूमि मूल्यांकन के तहत उपयोग के लिए उपयुक्त नहीं है।)

Suitability Subclasses (उपयुक्तता उपवर्ग):-

i. Suitable (उपयुक्त) (S):-

S1 (Highly Suitable) (अत्यधिक उपयुक्त):- Land has no or minor limitations; gives high yield with little input.

(भूमि में कोई या मामूली सीमाएँ नहीं होतीं; कम इनपुट के साथ उच्च उपज देती है।)

S2 (Moderately Suitable) (मध्यम रूप से उपयुक्त):- Moderate limitations; moderate input needed for good yield.

(मध्यम सीमाएँ; अच्छी उपज के लिए मध्यम इनपुट की आवश्यकता होती है।)

S3 (Marginally Suitable) (मामूली रूप से उपयुक्त):- Severe limitations; low productivity even with high input.

(गंभीर सीमाएँ; उच्च इनपुट के साथ भी कम उत्पादकता।)

ii. Not Suitable (उपयुक्त नहीं) (N):-

N1 (Currently Not Suitable) (वर्तमान में उपयुक्त नहीं):- Limitations may be overcome with major improvements (e.g., drainage, irrigation).

[बड़े सुधारों (जैसे, जल निकासी, सिंचाई) के साथ सीमाओं को दूर किया जा सकता है।]

N2 (Permanently Not Suitable) (स्थायी रूप से उपयुक्त नहीं):- Limitations are so severe they cannot be corrected (e.g., rocky land, steep cliffs).

[सीमाएँ इतनी गंभीर होती हैं कि उन्हें ठीक नहीं किया जा सकता (जैसे, पथरीली भूमि, खड़ी चट्टानें)।]
