History of irrigation in India (भारत में सिंचाई का इतिहास):- The history of irrigation is long, rich, and closely linked with the development of agriculture and civilization. It has evolved from simple water-harvesting techniques to modern large-scale irrigation systems.
(सिंचाई का इतिहास लंबा, समृद्ध और कृषि एवं सभ्यता के विकास से घनिष्ठ रूप से जुड़ा हुआ है। यह साधारण जल संचयन तकनीकों से लेकर आधुनिक बड़े पैमाने की सिंचाई प्रणालियों तक विकसित हुआ है।)
Ancient Period (Prehistoric to 6th Century CE) [प्राचीन काल (प्रागैतिहासिक काल से छठी शताब्दी ई.पू.)]:-
Indus Valley Civilization (2500–1700 BCE) [सिंधु घाटी सभ्यता (2500-1700 ईसा पूर्व)]:-
> One of the earliest examples of irrigation in India.
(भारत में सिंचाई के सबसे प्रारंभिक उदाहरणों में से एक।)
> Cities like Harappa and Mohenjo-daro had:

Delhi Sultanate and Mughal Period (दिल्ली सल्तनत और मुगल काल):-

British Period (18th Century–1947) [ब्रिटिश काल (18वीं शताब्दी-1947)]:-

(राजस्व सृजन और अकाल नियंत्रण पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया।)
First Irrigation Commission (प्रथम सिंचाई आयोग):-
> The first Indian Irrigation Commission was appointed in 1901 by the Viceroy, Lord Curzon.
(प्रथम भारतीय सिंचाई आयोग की नियुक्ति 1901 में वायसराय लॉर्ड कर्ज़न द्वारा की गई थी।)
> Chairman was Sir Colin Scott-Moncrieff.
